
National Dialogue Conference (NDC) Secretary General Ahmed Awad bin Mubarak met on Saturday with World Bank Executive Director Merza Hasan.
During the meeting, bin Mubarak reviewed indications of progress in the NDC with the international official. The two also discussed ways in which support can be provided by the World Bank for the conference.
He also briefed Hasan on the NDC working groups’ processes and achievements thus far. bin Mubarak also stated that the nine working groups had completed their final reports, before noting that the conference had had more success that was expected.
"The NDC represents an historic opportunity for Yemenis to diagnose their problems and find solutions,'' said bin Mubarak.
The NDC Secretary General called on donor nations to fulfill their commitments to Yemen, before urging the international community to support NDC outcomes as they are implemented on the ground-level.
For his part, the World Bank Executive Director said that on a global level, Yemen’s National Dialogue Conference represented to a unique experiment.
Hasan called on NDC members to concentrate on economics as a way to promote Yemen and shape the nation’s future.
