A handful of NDC members demanded on Tuesday that Yemeni President Abd Rabbu Mansour Hadi cancel a republican decree, issued yesterday, which appointed Jobran Sadeq Ali Basha as Ibb governorate’s Assistant Undersecretary for Financial and Administrative Affairs.

The members stated that the decree was unfair since it effectively repeated mistakes made by Yemen’s previous regime.

They added that Basha’s appointment flew in the face of efforts to establish a modern state, since it only came about because the appointee was the son of a powerful sheikh in Ibb governorate.

Among the slogans written on the protesting members’ placards was ‘President Hadi’s decree turns the wheel of change back’.
