NDC Secretary General meets with U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary of State

On Friday in Washington, D.C., NDC Secretary General Ahmed Awad bin Mubarak and Yemeni Deputy Foreign Minister Mohamed Mothana met with Barbara Leaf, the U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs.

During the meeting, bin Mubarak spoke about bilateral relations between Yemen and the U.S. and gave particular attention to development efforts in Yemen and support for the National Dialogue Conference.

bin Mubarak provided a detailed overview of technical challenges faced by the conference Secretariat General and called on the U.S. government to continue providing political support for the NDC.

For her part, Leaf praised the NDC’s progress and Yemen’s political transition process. She also reiterated U.S. support for Yemeni citizens as they are engaged in shaping their nation’s future.

Leaf also announced that the US had allocated over $10 million for a contribution to the NDC’s operational budget.
