President Hadi receives UN Special Advisor to Yemen Jamal Benomar

According to the Saba News Agency, Yemeni President Abd Rabbu Mansour Hadi received United Nations Special Advisor to Yemen Jamal Benomar on Saturday.

Hadi hailed UN support for Yemen’s political transition, while also pointing towards various signs of progress in the process, including steps taken to decrease tension in streets of Sana’a; holding early presidential elections; holding the NDC; and restructuring the nation’s armed and security forces. 

“Most Yemeni people seek to build peace and make changes as they are look forward and towards a better future for their country,” said Hadi. “Despite obstacles that have occasionally arisen -most of which aimed to hinder the political transition - the Yemeni people’s determination is stronger and will be win in the end,” he said.

Benomar told Hadi that UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon was closely monitoring developments in Yemen and that he was very grateful for President Hadi’s efforts Hadi during the transitional period.

The UN Special Advisor added that the UN would continue to support Yemen and help it to overcome all challenges in its period of political transition.
