NDC working groups make headway in composing work plans for coming months

3 July 2013 /

On Wednesday, all nine NDC working groups continued to discuss their work plans - both in general and in detail - for the coming months.

Members of the nine groups reviewed items on their previous agendas which had yet to be addressed while keeping in mind their desired outcomes by the conference’s end.

In separate news, members of the National Issues and Transitional Justice Working Group listened as two lectures were delivered to them.

Anne Massagee, the Deputy Director of the International Center for Transitional Justice (ICTJ) for the Middle East and North Africa, and Mohammed Abdel Dayem, the Director of ICTJ’s North Africa Program, spoke about how the group could address its mandated issue while taking into account Yemen’s particular circumstances and challenges.

Meanwhile, members of the Comprehensive Development Working Group received a lecture from Al-Maesser Adnan Qatena which compared and contrasted Yemen’s and Germany’s current constitutions.

Separately, the NDC Consensus Committee made an official decision to hold weekly meetings with working group chairpersons to coordinate group efforts. A further aim of the weekly meetings will be the resolution of group-specific issues and challenges.
