
The NDC’s Dialogue Ambassadors have continued to lead activities throughout Yemen which target societal segments which are either not represented or underrepresented at the conference.
‘Ambassador’ Abdul Bari Taher said the idea of forming the team came about when he and others recognized that while most segments of society were represented at the NDC, some groups were underrepresented.
The first session which was led by the Dialogue Ambassadors took place in Sa’ada governorate, where displaced citizens gathered in May and June to describe their concerns.
A second session was held in Hajjah governorate and saw broad participation from parties, political independents, civil society organization representatives, women, and soldiers from the security and armed forces.
The third session targeted political and social leaders in on Socotra Island. While speaking with the Dialogue Ambassadors, they requested that the government restore security within their governorate’s cities.
The most recent session was held in the port city of Aden. Civil society organization representatives were in attendance, as were some leaders of the Southern Movement, who described their demands and concerns to the visiting Dialogue Ambassadors.
