President Hadi speaks about National Dialogue on first day of Ramadan
On the occasion of the first day of Ramadan for 2013, Yemeni President Abd Rabbu Mansour Hadi said the country’s entire population understood the path to safety and also that it had confirmed its adherence to dialogue and political solutions.
“The Yemeni people will stand up against those who attempt to negate their just and legitimate aspirations for change and reform," said Hadi.
In his speech, President Hadi called on Yemen’s people to consider the holy month of Ramadan an opportunity to uphold values of goodness, tolerance and solidarity among Muslims.
"We hope that the holy month will provide an occasion for us to discuss our situation and to look closely at our reality, how we are living, and the need to support and enhance the virtues of dialogue,'' said Hadi.
He added that the pages of history are written by people who help to build their country, and who put their country’s interests above their own.
More pointedly, Hadi delivered a warning to “those who have yet to understand that the wheel have change has started to move; if they think they can obstruct the entire population’s future with their selfish interest and illegal ambitions, they will place themselves in the path of a widespread rage which will wipe them out.”
He went on to urge official, partisan and independent media outlets to take on their national duty to be a part of solutions, and not problems, for Yemen. Specifically, he called on members of the media to raise community awareness of the importance of the National Dialogue’s success.
At the end of his speech, President Hadi praised efforts exerted by the NDC's members to proceed into the second stage of the conference, which saw the conclusion of its second plenary session on Monday.
