NDC Good Governance group members praise completed final report

13 July 2013 /

According to group member Mohamed Al-Sabri, the Good Governance Working Group’s final report included 30 approved decisions, all of which focused on good governance principles, with some giving special attention to anti-corruption efforts.

''The Good Governance report included not comprehensive items on good governance principles, but rather items with specific focuses on matters of corruption, participation, impartiality, transparency, and immunity,'' said Al-Sabri.

Fatima Al-Khateri said that the report inspired optimism in her and others in the group, as one of the approved items concerned mandates for 30% participation for women and 20% for ‘youths’ in government institutions.

Abdullah Sabri said that President Hadi’s recent letter, in which he ordered the implementation of two lists containing conference priorities, provided NDC members with hope that the president was serious about resolving the nation’s problems.

The Good Governance Working Group has divided its tasks among three in-group committees. One is focused on the matter of rule of law; the second on public administration efficiency and the balance of power; and the last on foreign policy-related subjects.
