NDC Secretariat General Launches SMS Dialogue Service

30 December 2013 /

The NDC Secretariat General launched on Monday an SMS Dialogue Service, called Hewar Mobile, which aims to provide citizens with NDC outcomes during the upcoming period via their cellphones along with news of the constitution drafting.

The service will be provided by three operation companies, Yemen Mobile, Saba Phone, and Y Phone via a number of 5090 in return for YR 30 per month.

In a press conference held at the NDC Media Center, NDC Secretary General  Ahmed Awad bin Mubarak said that this service represents an important step by providing Yemeni citizens and the public with NDC outcomes.

He also said that the service would form a platform to engage citizen participation and their opinions on the NDC outcomes and constitution drafting.

Bin Mubarak confirmed in a press conference held in the Information Center of the NDC the need for community communication to promote the NDC’s outcomes.

"This service came in devotion to the principles of the National Dialogue adopted by Yemen, which is allowing the 565 members to be available for the community and all Yemeni people,'' bin Mubarak said.

NDC Communications and Media Department Director Mohammed Al-Asaadi said that choosing the manner of participation in the service in return for a nominal sum is a result of the NDC Secretariat General's desire to not impose the service on citizens, rather giving them a choice to join to service by free will.

He added that the NDC Secretariat General aims to see the concern and keenness of the citizen to participate in drawing the future and to be informed of the latest developments of the NDC from the main source of information.

Al-Asaadi stressed that the NDC Secretariat General will not receive any money from the subscription fee and all this money will go to the phone service providers, who agreed to reduce the price to the lowest level in order to support the process of political transition in the country.
