NDC Third Plenary Session Completes Hearing Comments on Transitional Justice Final Report

6 January 2014 /

NDC Third Plenary Session has completed on Monday listening to comments on the political components of the Transitional Justice Working Group's final report and decided to hear comments from the group's leaderships in tomorrow's session.

The comments underlined the importance of considering all Yemeni victims in conflicts as martyrs because this step would close all files of the past, moving forward towards the future and building Yemen's modern state.

They also stressed the need to adopt a real transitional justice that would handle all effects of the past and would contribute towards reparations to victims of conflicts, wars, and political conflicts, as well as establishing a real national reconciliation that could tackle all problems of revenge.

Political components also accentuated in their notes on the need to enhance the role of civil society organizations in realizing  transitional justice and monitoring the implementation of the NDC outcomes, confirming at the same time the importance of promoting the role of the media in monitoring and discovering the truth.

Notes also stressed the importance of designating an independent committee to investigate human rights violations in 2011.
