19 January 2014 /

The NDC Final Plenary Session continued on Monday in a meeting headed by Mahmoud al-Joneed hearing the notes of political components about drafts of the NDC final statement and guarantees to implement the NDC outcomes.

The political components stressed the importance of concluding the NDC with outcomes that meet Yemeni people's aspirations and the efforts made during the conference, saying that the NDC final document should raise the Yemeni people's hopes for the future and adopt clear and sufficient guarantees for all stages of implementation until establishing institutions of a new federal state.

Their notes also accentuated the importance of continuing work on the basis of the consensus and national partnership in the path of laying the foundation of Yemen's new modern state based on justice, equality, equal citizenship, and the essentials of good governance, as well as the commitment to implementing the remaining tasks of the Gulf-brokered deal. They also highlighted the importance of adopting the presidential statement to be included in the final documents of the NDC.

The notes also recommended the formation of a new government based on the principles of efficiency and integrity and not from political parties. They recommended forming a panel from NDC members to be tasked with monitoring and supervising the implementation of NDC outcomes.

Moreover, the political components' notes affirmed the need to set a timetable to implement all tasks mentioned in the draft of the final document.

Meanwhile, the NDC members organized a protest demanding the NDC Presidency to return back to article No. 50, concerning the reparation and compensation victims of central areas.

This article was mentioned in the final report of NDC Transitional Justice Working Group and replaced by another article in accordance with a proposal submitted by the NDC Consensus Committee.
