President Hadi Attends NDC Final Plenary Session

21 January 2014 /

President Abdu Rabbu Mansour Hadi attended on Tuesday the NDC Final Plenary Session.

At the beginning of the final plenary session, NDC's members stood and paused in a moment of silence during which they read Al-Fatiha for the soul of the NDC's member, Ahmed Sharaf al-Din, who was assassinated this morning.

They strongly condemned the assassination of the NDC member, who was shot dead by gunmen while he was en route to attend the NDC final plenary session, saying this kind of act targets Yemen's security and stability.

In the final plenary session, President Hadi delivered a speech where he stressed the importance of succeeding in the national proceedings for the secure future of Yemen, reiterating that the success of the NDC will maintain Yemen’s security and stability, assuring that Yemen’s unity will remain forever.

President Hadi announced during Tuesday's National Dialogue session that conference proceedings would continue to Saturday "The NDC must be succeeded even if the president and all his colleagues were killed." He added that, "all people should know that good forces are stronger and greater than evil ones."

Hadi, who chaired Tuesday's session, gave the closing speech for the National Dialogue, announcing that recommendations made at previous sessions had been unanimously endorsed.

"Not only Yemeni people who are watching the success of the NDC, but also the whole world world who is watching this success,'' the President stated. The President added that all Yemenis are looking forward to having a country in which they can live in dignity, security and stability.

The president praised the NDC’s final document, affirming that its content will be strictly implemented during the coming period, singling out that this document will save Yemen from segmentation, fanaticism, and divisions.

He further said that the monopolization of power, centralization, and mismanagement were behind the suffering of all Yemenis, hinting that these negatives pushed southerners to take to the streets and demand change.

He added that the conference's outcome document was "100 percent Yemeni and not the product of any foreign interference."

Hadi cited that this document would tackle all Yemen’s complicated issues including the monopolization of power, centralization, and mismanagement, emphasizing that the new constitution will guarantee the unity of the Yemeni people and land.

Hadi asserted that the agreement, enshrined in the outcome document, aimed to resolve the contentious issue of southern secession and "establish the essence of the new Yemen."

The agreement, drafted in December, recommended the formation of a committee tasked with deciding the number of Yemen's federal regions and setting up a credit fund for the country's impoverished south.

Meanwhile, members of the NDC unanimously voted on the NDC final statement and document which included all notes submitted by political components in the NDC.
