In a meeting chaired by President Abdu Rabbu Mansour Hadi, the Regions Committee, tasked with determining the number of regions in a federal state, agreed on Monday to transform Yemen into a six-region federation.
The six agreed regions include four in the north - Azal, Saba, Janad and Tehama - and two in the south, Aden and Hadhramout.
According to the final approval of the committee the six regions would be as follows;
The first region is the region of Hadhramout, which would be composed of Hadhramout, al-Mahera, Shabwa and the Socotra Island provinces. The capital of the region would be al-Mukkala.
The second region is the region of Saba, which would be composed of al-Jawf, Marib, al-Bedhae provinces. The capital of the region would be Marib.
The third region is the region of Aden, Abyan, Lahj and al-Dhalea provinces. The capital of the region would be Aden.
The fourth region is the region of Janad, which would be composed of Taiz and Ibb provinces. The capital of the region would be Taiz.
