The Gulf Cooperation Council's (GCC) Ministerial Council commended on Tuesday evening the national consensus yielded by the Yemeni National Dialogue Conference (NDC), and the decision to transform Yemen into a six-region federation.
In a statement issued at the conclusion of the 130th session meetings in Riyadh, the GCC cabinet pinned hope that the consensus would be a step that will help achieve security, stability, and prosperity of Yemen.
"The foreign ministers welcomed the outcomes of the National Dialogue in Yemen and the recommendation of the region committee which will contribute to security, stability, and prosperity of the country in line with the GCC initiative that stipulated the keenness of Yemen's unity, respect of the will and aspiration of Yemenis to protect the civil peace, security, stability of Yemen, and its national gains,'' the statement read.
It underlined that such consensus is consistent with the objectives of the Gulf initiative that ensures Yemen's unity and respects the Yemeni people's will and choices.
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Kuwait Sabah Khaled al-Sabah, who chairs the session, welcomed in his speech resolution 2140, issued unanimously by the UN Security Council on Yemen, saying it meets the demands of the Yemeni people for change and stability and confirms the international community's desire to support them.
