United Nations Special Advisor to Yemen Jamal Benomar met on Monday with youth ambassadors of Yemen’s National Dialogue Conference (NDC). At the meeting, Benomar assured them that the UN backed their efforts to enhance community participation in the conference.
“You, the female and male young people, are key partners in making decisions and you should invest in the dialogue conference to play a key role in meeting the aspirations of the Yemeni people,” he said.
“I am confident of your competence to have a positive impact on your country, in all aspects,” he told the ambassadors.
“The dialogue conference is not restricted to a special group; rather, it is gathering all Yemeni elites, groups and people and is addressing all issues, which concern all,” he said. “I am confident that all of society’s segments - including the youths - will contribute to making this conference a success.”
Around 22 young ambassadors from ten governorates - including Sanaa, Amran, Marib, Jawf, Shabwa, Baidha and Abyan - met at Sanaa’s Movenpick Hotel, the main venue of the NDC, on Monday.
On Tuesday, the youth ambassadors will launch their program, which will include campaigns to raise public awareness about NDC activities, progress in addressing key issues and dialogue outcomes, said Hossam Al-Jadani, an ambassador from Abyan governorate.
