Industry and Trade Minister Saad Al-Din bin Talib has said his ministry’s main responsibilities include making contributions to the achievement of sustainable development, drawing up economic policies and implementing them in a healthy business climate.
bin Talib’s remarks were delivered to members of the National Dialogue Conference’s (NDC) Development Working Group on Monday.
He added that another of his ministry’s duties is to supervise industrial companies which are fully- or partially-owned by the government.
The minister commented on challenges facing development in the industry sector, and said that such challenges were mainly connected with financial and administrative decision-making.
He also placed a spotlight on legislative and financial challenges facing the Yemeni economy, while also reviewing the merits of Yemeni investment law.
At this group, Agriculture and Irrigation Minister, Fareed bin Mujawar, appeared and said that Yemen had an agricultural roadmap available for local and international investors.
“Yemen has vast agricultural lands which, if properly dealt with, would contribute greatly to its economic development,” said bin Mujawar.
