NDC committee discusses wrongful terminations with Political Security leadership

11 May 2013 /

The wrongful terminations committee - part of the NDC’s Military and Security Working Group -visited Political Security Headquarters on Saturday. During their meeting with political security head Ghalib Al-Qamish, the matter of wrongfully fired military and security workers was discussed.

Al-Qamish said the Political Security Services were ready to cooperate with the committee, and welcomed proposals to address the matter of wrongful terminations.

He said, however, that many military and security members retired willingly and in accordance with the law.

The committee members responded that it was the responsibility of the Political Security Services to reinstate and return rights to those southerners who were wrongfully terminated as a result of the 1994 civil war.

Through addressing the matter of wrongful terminations, the committee members stated that they would be helping to resolve the ‘southern issue’, which has been given maximum priority on the NDC agenda.

A representative of the committee also said that any restructuring of the armed and security forces on national, professional and scientific bases couldn’t be achieved until wrongfully-terminated officers and soldiers were reinstated.

The committee urged Political Security leaderships to provide information about wrongful terminations and to provide its vision of combatting terrorism so that aspects of it could be included in Yemen’s new constitution.

The committee members also discussed retirees’ rights with Political Security officials.
