12 May 2013 /

The Islah Party presented its conception of the Southern issue’s components to the NDC working group tasked with addressing the issue on Sunday.

At the Southern Issue Working Group’s meeting, an Islah Party representative said the issue’s components included a political failure to maintain a partnership between north and south before and after the 1994 civil war.

Other key components cited by the Islah representative included economic failures such as poor management of national resources and widespread corruption which affected the national economy and had negative impacts on peoples’ livelihoods.

The Islah representative also spoke about the illegal confiscation and ensuing distribution of private property and land, as well as wrongful terminations, especially those of southern military and security officers and soldiers.
