NDC committee conducts various meetings on subject of development in Amran

A committee from the NDC’s Development Working Group paid a field visit to Amran governorate and met with Local Council Secretary General Saleh Al-Makhlous and other governorate officials.

The committee members listened to the officials’ visions on the matter of local governance and on how there could be improved contributions to sustainable development. A special focus was put on Amran’s developmental needs, including workforce training and the completion of infrastructural projects.

Separately, the committee met with the local heads of the agricultural cooperatives and major farms and listened their visions and proposals for accelerating agricultural development in the governorate.

Furthermore, the committee discussed challenges facing the agricultural sector, including soaring diesel prices, dry water wells, poor agricultural awareness, and decreasing water resources in the Amran basin.

Furthermore, the team met with youth and civil society organization representatives and listened to their ideas for making development contributions.

The youth representatives spoke about challenges which face their efforts, while also arguing for redoubled support for sports activities, the handicapped and other marginalized segments of society.

Moreover, the youth representatives stressed the importance of developing partnerships between the government and civil society organizations in a manner which promotes development.

The committee also paid a visit to the Amran Cement Factory and met with company officials. During the visit, the officials described how they thought the industrial sector should be developed, while at the same time placing an emphasis on the matter of increasing the factory’s cement output.
