Members of the NDC’s State-Building Working Group have continued to meet with political party representatives in Ibb governorate.
The group members heard various political representatives’ visions, most of which stressed the importance of field visits by NDC committees to enhance the state of community participation in the dialogue conference.
Separately, the team held a meeting with youths, women, human rights activists, and civil society organization representatives.
At the meeting in the province’s Cultural Center, Muhammad Al-Muta’a, who was heading the group field visit, introduced those in attendance to the aims of the group’s visit. He also explained that his working group was focusing on matters such as the potential forms of government and reformed electoral systems for Yemen.
“The participation of the youth in shaping the future is very important - all should deliver a clear national message,” he said.
The NDC members listened to demands from youth in attendance, which included the construction of a civil state, a fair electoral system, and protections for Yemen’s national principles and identity.
The youths demanded that corruption be fought, which some said would enable them to receive positions at government institutions. Other youths placed an emphasis on having care given to the families of those who were killed or wounded during Yemen’s 2011 Youth Revolution.
