Committees from four NDC working groups arrived in Hadhramout on Monday, whereupon they visited with Governor Khalid Al-Daini other local government officials to discuss security and development challenges in the governorate.

The 30-member committees from the NDC’s Army and Security, Good Governance, Development and Independence of Special Entities Working Groups arrived in Hadhramout on Monday morning.

“Excessive centralization amounts to one of the key roadblocks to economic and security stability in Hadhramout, which has suffered from problems which include the targeted killings of security and military officers,” said Al-Daini.

“We, the local government, are ready to facilitate the NDC’s committee field visits because we believe the dialogue presents the only way to tackle all issues,” he added.

Committee chairmen delivered presentations on their visits’ goals, which include hearing from all of Hadhramout’s societal segments.

Local officials briefed the committees on key challenges and issues in Hadramout, including security disarray and delayed financial compensation which people who were affected by floods in 2008 expected to receive long ago.
