NDC committee meets with CSO, marginalized citizen representatives in Ibb

13 May 2013 /

A committee from the NDC’s State-Building Working Group - currently on field visits to Ibb governorate - met on Monday with civil society organizations (CSO) and marginalized citizen representatives.

Speaking to those in attendance, committee head Fadl Al-Muta’a stressed the importance of engaging CSOs and all segments of society in the dialogue conference. He also said that successful state-building depends on seven factors: the system of governance, state structure and identity, electoral and administrative systems, and legislative and judicial powers.

“CSOs represent the cornerstones of state-building and achieving justice and equality,” he said.

The committee listened to the visions of representatives of marginalized citizens, who demanded the inclusion of marginalized people in the society and that they be enabled to enjoy the same rights as other citizens.

The CSO representatives submitted proposals directly concerned with themes of transitional justice, federalism, electoral reform and census-taking.

The committee assured those present that their visions and proposals would be conveyed to the NDC in a transparent manner.
