
A committee from the NDC’s Development Working Group met on Monday with local government officials in Jawf governorate.
Governorate Local Council Secretary General Mohammed Ameen briefed the committee on problems facing the governorate, which include a lack of basic services and challenges involving the area’s cultural heritage and natural resources.
The team conducted in-depth discussions with representatives from political parties, civil society organizations and other segments of society. The committee members also took note of their visions and proposals for ways in which sustainable development challenges can be addressed in Jawf.
The team also met with NDC youth ambassadors at their tent and discussed development issues, which the youths had spent time dealing with as part of their agenda.
NDC member and head of the Sustainable Development Program in Jawf, Nasser Thawaba presented his vision of how the issue can best be addressed. The committee also paid a visit to Hazm Hospital, where the members met with officials and inspected the hospital premises.
Furthermore, the team visited Jawf’s Maternity and Childhood Center, power station, and Agricultural Office. At each location, the committee learned from officials about the problems facing each facility’s performance.
