Finance Minister Sakhr Al-Wajeeh has urged the Yemeni government to address mistakes which have hindered public spending, while also adding that corruption has amounted to a pandemic which has swallowed up a significant portion of the country’s resources.  

At a meeting with the anti-corruption committee - part of the NDC’s State-Building Working Group, Al-Wajeeh reviewed mechanisms which aim to repair the state budget.

He briefed the NDC committee on funds which have been allocated for the families of those who were killed during the 2011 Youth Revolution – as well as for those who were injured.

“There will be no further bids on the blood of the martyrs - I am not prepared to argue about this topic,” he said.
