A team composed of members from the NDC’s State-Building Working Group concluded its field visits in Ibb governorate on Tuesday. Its final meeting in Ibb was with army and security service commanders and religious clerics.
The governorate’s senior cleric, Abdul Al-Himyari, delivered a presentation on area clerics’ ‘vision’ of how state-building should be conducted in Yemen.
Included in the vision was the preservation of present constitutional articles on Yemen’s state structure and republican form of government. Al-Himyari added that the aims of the 26th of September, 14th of October and 2011 Youth Revolution would lay the foundation for a modern Yemeni state.
For their part, the military and security officers stated that adherence to the constitution and the adoption of a parliamentary system which would represent the country’s main societal pillars constituted their vision of the Yemen’s future state.
