The economic and social committee - part of the NDC’s Rights and Freedoms Working Group – met with officials from the Labor and Social Affairs Ministry on Tuesday.

During the meeting, the two parties discussed the officials’ proposals for reducing unemployment rates and possible mechanisms for distributing social security assistance.

A separate team of Rights and Freedoms group members met with officials from the Yemeni Parliament’s own committee on rights and freedoms. The NDC members listened as the officials provided human rights statistics and submitted recommendations aimed at improving the state of human rights protections in Yemen.

The team rescheduled this week’s planned field visit to Aden for next week.
