Teams of NDC members met on Tuesday with representatives of Hadhramout’s fisheries sector. During the meeting, the NDC members were briefed on security and legal challenges which affect Yemen’s fisheries.
The representatives insisted that security needed to be provided for fishermen, who face constant threats from pirates and international forces combating piracy.
They demanded that laws be enacted to prevent indiscriminate fishing and stated that the nation’s fishery wealth be protected. The representatives added that all fishing companies must be compelled to abide by protective legislation.
The visiting teams were composed of members from the NDC’s Good Governance, Development, and Independence of Special Entities Working Groups.
