The NDC team visiting Hodeida held a comprehensive meeting with the heads of local councils, executive offices, and districts.
The meeting focused on challenges facing various sectors, including electricity, water, health, education, fisheries and agriculture.
Also discussed was the area’s deteriorating environmental situation and difficulties facing local fishermen. These difficulties are understood to include the threat of harassment, attacks and imprisonment at the hands of Eritrean forces.
Separately, a team composed of members from the Rights and Freedoms Working Group visited Hodeida security facilities, including the criminal investigative office, central prison, and political security and governorate security offices.
The team discussed potential ways to improve the facilities with the security officials. The NDC members also urged the officials to release any illegally detained individuals and to provide quality food and health services for inmates.
