
Teams from the NDC’s Good Governance, Development, and Independence of Special Entities Working Groups have met with officials from Hadhramout governorate’s health, education, oil, social affairs and civil service offices.
At Tuesday’s meeting, the teams discussed the offices’ needs and the challenges which are facing them. Office officials said that low budgets, insufficient infrastructure and personnel were among the main problems facing the offices’ performance.
Many officials added that centralization represented a key roadblock to development and the provision of improved services from various sectors.
In Sana’a, a team from the NDC’s Rights and Freedoms Working Group visited the Labor and Social Affairs Ministry and discussed services it provides to handicapped citizens.
For her part, Minister Amat Al-Razzak Hommad said her ministry provides key services to the handicapped, including financing, training and rehabilitation programs, in addition to social security and urgent aid, provided in coordination with civil society organizations.
The team also visited the office of Sana’a’s Handicapped Fund, where it learned about healthcare services which are provided to handicapped citizens.
