The cultural, political and social development committee - part of the NDC’s Rights and Freedoms Working Group - paid a visit to the National Museum in Sana’a on Monday.
The committee members toured the museum and discussed a variety of issues with museum officials, including how best to protect Yemen’s archeological and historic sites.
Ahmed Al-Sayyani, head of the General Authority for Antiquities and Museums, described the challenges which face the authority, including an insufficient budget and inadequate security presences around archeological sites.
He stated that walls need to be built around all historic sites, castles need to be rehabilitated, and a comprehensive archaeological map must be finalized.
