Members of the NDC’s National Issues and Transitional Justice Working Group have decided to speak with the NDC Secretariat General about finalizing arrangements for remaining field visits to Aden, Abyan and Lahj.
At its meeting on Monday, the group requested that the Secretariat General provide clarification on which types of field visits its teams wouldn’t be permitted to make. In such cases, they said they wished to discuss alternatives with members of the Secretariat General.
The group chairperson requested that teams which had already conducted field visits work together to prepare a collective report on activities from their visits to various governorates.
Group members in general also discussed the possibility of drafting legislation concerned with the provision of reparations for particular groups of citizens while also meeting transitional justice aims.
Separately, members of the group’s political conflict committee discussed war victims from, and rights violations which occurred in, Yemen’s middle regions. They also discussed the impact of political conflicts in the 1970s and 1980s on Ibb, Taiz, Dhamar, Rima and Rada’.
