Two of the three committees from the NDC’s Good Governance Working Group have submitted texts which members propose should be included in Yemen’s new constitution.
The committees’ ‘visions’ are based on field visits which they made to organizations and public offices in Sana’a and other governorates, as well as on other working group activities and studies conducted in the NDC’s first session.
The committee with a focus on the roles of parties and civil society organizations will submit its own vision on Monday, said Working Group Chairwoman Afrah Badewailan.
“The committees will meet on Monday to approve a final report that will include suggestions for inclusions in the new constitution, which all members must agree upon,” she said.
During Sunday’s meeting, the committees separately discussed field visit reports and approved draft proposals to guarantee to anti-corruption efforts at governmental organizations; activate principles of accountability and supervision; empower women; and promote sustainable development and Yemen’s civil service.
