Presidential Board approves agenda for 2nd NDC plenary session

27 May 2013 /

NDC Presidential Board Rapporteur Abdullah Lamlas has stated that next week, the Consensus Committee will begin discussing and reviewing the nine working groups’ reports on the past two months’ of conference activity.

Lamlas stated that all overlaps in report content will be addressed; he further affirmed that all working groups would be responsible for discussing their own concerns with regard to their respective issues.

Following these discussions, the commission will return the reports to the individual working groups in order to familiarize NDC members with notes added to the texts.

According to Lamlas, the NDC President Board approved a decision to select three to five members from every political group to take notes on every report.

He added that there must be guidelines in place to keep discussions in accordance with time limits.

"If we allow every group to talk as it likes and when it likes, we won’t have enough time to discuss issues," he said.

The subject of demonstrations by NDC members – which Lamlas said had recently increased at the expense of key activities – was also addressed.

"Every political group has been asked to urge its leadership figures and other members to be committed to their work and to what the Presidential Board has decided in this regard. The Presidential Board has decided that demonstrations, when necessary, must be held after 1:00 PM,” said Lamlas.

On Monday, the Presidential Board also approved an agenda for a 2nd preliminary NDC session. It will be held from June 8-18 and will include the reading of the nine working groups’ reports.

Each working group will have one day to read its report to other groups’ members. After each report has been read, open discussions will be held.
