The NDC’s Independence of Special Entities Working Group has approved its members’ recommendations for guidelines for bodies concerned with institutional oversight.
The group’s recommendations have the potential to affect the drafting of Yemen’s new constitution, and especially with regard to the activities and tasks of supervisory bodies. One such recommendation is for nominations to supervisory bodies to be the result of majority votes in Parliament.
When developing the group’s recommendations, members attempted to develop guidelines which would serve to prevent interference which would compromise the credibility and transparency of institutions.
