Rights and Freedoms group moves toward completion of final report

30 May 2013 /

The NDC’s Rights and Freedoms Working Group met on Thursday to discuss and vote on draft report items which group members had previously failed to reach a consensus on. The final report which the members are working on is intended to provide an overview of group activities over the past two months.

By meeting’s end, items which were rejected by less than 10% of the group’s members had been officially approved; those which more than 10% of the group’s members persisted in rejected will be referred to the NDC Consensus Committee.

Group Chairwoman Arwa Othman said they had received amendment proposals for certain report items and that these would be turned over to the NDC Technical Committee.

“Amendments which have been proposed for private rights and freedoms items will be received at a special meeting on Thursday, when the group is expected to finalize all the public and private rights and freedoms items,” said Othman.
