NDC Secretary General Ahmed Awad bin Mubarak met with journalists - including correspondents from foreign media outlets - in the port city of Aden on Wednesday.
During the meeting, he briefed reporters on the activities of four NDC teams which traveled to Aden and met with officials and private sector, organization and political party representatives from Yemen’s Aden, Lahj, Abyan and Dhale governorates.
bin Mubarak said, "The teams conducted productive visits to various organizations and heard from targeted individuals as part of an effort to reach all communities and come away with outcomes which can contribute to the drafting of a new constitution.
"We understand that there are problems in Aden, including insufficient services; unrest simply amounts to the people’s way of protesting situations," he said.
He also pointed towards a concerted appeal by the NDC teams to President Abd Rabbu Mansour Hadi to take immediate action in addressing Aden’s problems.
"Aden does not reject the NDC - and this is a good sign. The teams met with representatives of squares in Al-Mansoura and Crater and received written visions on the future structure of the Yemeni state," bin Mubarak told reporters.
The NDC Secretary General also reiterated that resolving the southern issue was key to meeting Yemen’s challenges.
"There is a real determination to face all challenges with a national consensus."
