
Five of the nine NDC Working Groups have submitted final reports on their first session activities to the Presidential Board. Working group final reports will be presented at the upcoming NDC plenary meeting.
The groups which submitted their final reports those focused on the topics of National Issues and Transitional Justice, Rights and Freedoms, Sa’ada Issue, Southern Issue and Good Governance W. The remaining four working groups are in the process of completing their own final reports.
On Sunday, the Army and Security Working Group approved its committees’ reports on the past two months of activity. The committee reports will be summarized in one comprehensive report, which will be submitted to the NDC Presidential Board on Monday.
Meanwhile, Development Working Group members discussed a draft of their final report on first session activities. A subcommittee was formed and assigned to reformulate items which had failed to meet with approval from a sufficient number of members.
On Sunday, the Sa’ada Issue and State-Building Working Groups began holding discussions on their agenda for the upcoming, second NDC session.
Members of the group also agreed to begin hearing from political party representatives on the matter of the Sa’ada issues’s key components. A subcommittee was also formed, to be tasked with preparing a field visit plan which includes target locations and groups.
The State-Building Group’s agenda for the NDC’s second session will include a focus on recommendations for inclusions in Yemen’s new constitution, in-depth discussions on political parties’ ‘visions’ for Yemen, and reaching a consensus on the guidelines for the formation of a constitutional committee.
The group, which submitted its first session final report to the NDC Presidential Board on Saturday, also reviewed a UNICEF report on Yemen which was published this month.
