On Monday, members of the NDC’s Development Working Group completed a review of proposed constitutional items and agreed that the group’s preparatory committee would be tasked with individually approving them.
The group members also completed work on amendments to constitutional items on political, social and cultural development, as well as on ‘individual development’ and the roles of the public and private sectors and civil society organizations.
Items on health, education and human resource development were also discussed.
The group’s committee on economic development and external support also reviewed amendments proposed by members. Thus far, the committee has discussed 13 of 41 constitutional items which were submitted by group members.
Constitutional items which have been reviewed by the group’s education committee will be presented before members for a vote on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, Group Vice Chairperson Najat Jumaan said some members had been assigned to coordinate with the committees’ rapporteurs in an effort to complete unfinished portions of the working group’s final report on the NDC’s first session as soon as possible.
