State-Building group completes work plan for NDC’s second session

4 June 2013 /

Rana Ghanem, the Vice Chairperson of the NDC’s State-Building Working Group, has stated that group members have “100 percent completed” an agenda for the NDC’s second session.

“We now have a general framework for the next session. Our work depends on taking into account the Southern Issue Working Group’s outcomes and decisions,” she said.

“I think the Southern Movement representatives will meet in the coming days to discuss their issues and options and this will provide the State-Building Group with an opportunity to make a decision based on what comes from the Southern Issue group,” said Ghanem.

At its meeting on Tuesday, the group’s members agreed to submit an agreed-upon state structure model as part of work towards the development of recommendations for Yemen’s new constitution.

Separately, Development Working Group Chairperson Ahmed Bazara reported that the group’s final report on its activities during the NDC’s first session had been completed.

“There was consensus agreement on key decisions made by the group’s four committees,” he said, before adding “We will discuss and vote on other decisions in the next session.”
