NDC Secretary General Ahmed Awad bin Mubarak participated in the ‘Southern Issue Free Voices and the National Dialogue’ Conference in Aden governorate on Friday.
bin Mubarak delivered a speech in which he said power outages and other current problems required immediate action in order for citizens’ suffering to come to an end.
“The southern issue is key to solving all of Yemen’s problems, and the NDC is the way to address this issue,” he said. “The NDC is working on a fair, immediate solution to the issue through addressing grievances and returning illegally-confiscated properties to their owners.”
He added that the NDC was discussing all issues and projects in a transparent manner.
bin Mubarak also briefed those in attendance on the results of the nine NDC working groups’ first session efforts.
He said the door was still open for southern leaders to participate in the NDC, which, he added, remains a golden opportunity for Yemen to receive support from the international community.
In this regard, the NDC Secretary General said the international community was optimistic about the NDC’s outcomes. He also said that foreign nations were looking towards conference outcomes, with expectations of solutions for key issues.
Abdulrahim Sabir, an advisor to United Nations Special Advisor to Yemen Jamal Benomar, also attended the conference.
